WHAT IT IS
What Rejuvenation Is — and Isn't.
An asphalt shingle is a fibreglass mat saturated with asphalt oils, with ceramic granules pressed into the surface. Those oils are what keep it flexible and keep the granules attached. Forty-six inches of rain a year, an 83-degree July, January nights in the low twenties and salt air off the bay pull them out — and when a roofer looks at a fifteen-year-old Long Island roof and calls it "end of life," what he is usually describing is a chemical condition, not a structural one.
Rejuvenation puts the oils back. It's a bio-based, soy-derived treatment that penetrates the shingle rather than coating it, it takes two to three hours with no tear-off, and on a roof that qualifies it can add up to 18 years. Not every roof qualifies, and Manuel will tell you if yours doesn't.

LONG ISLAND IS HARD ON A ROOF
Four Seasons, One Slow Failure Mechanism.
Most local roofing conversation is about storms. The actual failure mechanism is slower and more boring than that, and it's the one nobody is selling against. Islip sees roughly 46 inches of rain a year. Summer highs run about 83°F in July — and surface temperatures on a dark roof run far above that. Winters bring January lows around 23°F, and repeated freeze-thaw all season long: water works into micro-cracks, freezes, expands and widens them, then thaws and does it again, a few thousand times over the life of a roof.
Add ice dams backing water up under the shingle course at the eave, two to four significant nor'easters a winter with gusts of 60 to 80 mph along the coast, and constant, low-grade salt air off the Great South Bay and the Atlantic from day one. Black algae streaking is endemic to humid Northeast maritime roofs. None of that is exotic — it's just what a Long Island roof deals with every year of its life.
Hurricane Sandy came ashore in October 2012, and a very large number of south shore roofs were replaced in the two or three years after it. Those roofs are now hitting year 13 and 14 — the exact window where rejuvenation makes the most sense.

Not every roof qualifies. Rejuvenation works on asphalt shingle roofs that are still structurally sound — typically 6 to 20 years old, with the shingle body intact. If your roof has active leaks, widespread missing shingles, deck rot, or damage beyond what rejuvenation can address, Manuel will tell you that at the free inspection and you'll owe nothing.

Site Protection
On treatment day, landscaping, driveways, gutters, AC units and anything else near the roofline gets covered and protected before a drop is sprayed.
Application
The GreenSoy™ treatment is sprayed across the full roof surface and penetrates the shingle over the following hours. Most homes are done in two to three hours, with no tear-off, no dumpster and no heavy equipment on the property.
